Day By Day

  1. 01
    Day 1

    Nairobi – arrival

    Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya's vibrant capital. Depending on arrival time, optional visits to the Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe Centre or the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Overnight in Nairobi.

  2. 02
    Day 2

    Nairobi – Aberdares

    Drive north through fertile Kikuyu farmlands with a scenic stop at Thika town and its pineapple plantations. Enter Aberdare National Park — misty bamboo forests, waterfalls and montane moorlands. Overnight at Treetops Lodge or The Ark, where wildlife comes to the floodlit salt licks through the night.

    Day 3

    Aberdares – Samburu

    Descend from the highlands into the semi-arid north, crossing the equator near Nanyuki. Arrive in Samburu National Reserve, home to the Samburu Special Five: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and gerenuk. Evening game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River.

    Day 4

    Samburu

    Full day of game drives. Cultural visit to a Samburu village for traditional dances and beadwork. Wildlife highlights include elephants bathing in the river and leopards often seen in the acacias.

    Day 5

    Samburu – Meru National Park

    Scenic drive east toward Meru, passing rural homesteads and farmlands. Afternoon hike to Scull Hill for panoramic views over Meru National Park, and learn about George and Joy Adamson's Born Free legacy.

    Day 6

    Meru National Park game drives

    Morning and afternoon game drives through dense riverine forests, with rare sightings of lesser kudu. Meru is a birdwatching paradise with over 400 species recorded.

    Day 7

    Meru – Mount Kenya via Ngare Ndare

    Drive toward Mount Kenya, stopping at Ngare Ndare Forest for a canopy walk on a suspended bridge, waterfalls and turquoise pools for swimming. Continue to the Mount Kenya base area for overnight.

  8. 08
    Day 8

    Mount Kenya hike

    Guided hike on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya, Africa's second-highest peak, through unique flora including giant lobelias and senecios. Optional extension to Lake Ellis or the Sirimon route viewpoints.

  9. 09
    Day 9

    Day trip to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

    Visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy, renowned for rhino conservation. Highlights include the last two northern white rhinos, the chimpanzee sanctuary and Big Five game drives. Return to the Mount Kenya area for overnight.

  10. 10
    Day 10

    Mount Kenya – Lake Naivasha

    Drive through the Great Rift Valley escarpment with a stop at Thomson's Falls in Nyahururu. Arrive at Lake Naivasha, a freshwater haven for hippos and birdlife, and take an afternoon boat ride to Crescent Island to walk among giraffes, zebras and antelopes.

    Day 11

    Hell's Gate National Park

    Explore Hell's Gate, famous for dramatic cliffs, gorges and geothermal activity. Cycle among wildlife, hike the gorge and look out for rock hyrax and raptors. Optional visit to the Geothermal Spa for a soak.

  12. 12
    Day 12

    Lake Naivasha – Nairobi

    Leisurely drive back to Nairobi with scenic stops at Rift Valley viewpoints. Depending on your flight schedule, last-minute shopping at the Maasai Market or a visit to the Nairobi National Museum, then departure.
