About Tarangire National Park
Tarangire covers about 2,850 km² and holds one of Tanzania's highest concentrations of elephants, with large family herds gathering around the Tarangire River and iconic baobab trees scattered across rolling savannah. Wildlife includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, oryx, kudu and hartebeest, and over 500 bird species make it superb for birdwatching. The river draws animals throughout the day, so game viewing stays good even in the middle of the afternoon.
