Lake Naivasha & Hell's Gate
Hippos, boat rides and a walking safari with no predators.
About Lake Naivasha & Hell's Gate
A freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley, Naivasha is known for its calm waters, hippo populations and excellent birding. The lakeshore and nearby Crescent Island — a private island turned walking-safari sanctuary reached by boat — provide safe, vehicle-free walking among zebras, waterbuck, antelope and giraffes. Neighbouring Hell's Gate National Park, named after a dramatic break in the cliffs, is a small, scenic park where you can walk or cycle among wildlife beneath towering cliffs, past hot springs and geothermal towers.
